A goalless draw between Brighton and Hove Albion FC and Lewes FC did little to dampen spirits at today's record breaking turnout at the Dripping Pan.
Around 2500 fans turned up to see this year's friendly in Lewes, beating last year's attendance of 2000.
Even though no goals were scored, the usually half-empty Lewes ground was packed full of fans, mostly supporting Lewes, cheering on for the full ninety minutes.
Chris Mason, 24, creator of the monthly Lewes FC fanzine Ten Worthing Bombers, said: "It was just nice to see the ground filled up for once.
"As Lewes is a lower league team, only a few hundred fans turn up each week
"Today, the score didn't matter as the atmosphere made it all worthwhile."
However, some Brighton fans didn't quite share Mr Mason's enthusiasm.
Dan Walker, 31, a supporter of Brighton, said: "Even though it's only a friendly match, Brighton should have wiped the floor with Lewes
"We play in the Championship. I don't even know what league Lewes is in.
"We should have definitely played a lot better."
Brighton and Lewes typically play each other in a friendly match every year, as preperation before the league season kicks off.
As last year's result was 5 goals to Brighton, it is easy to see why the Lewes fans had a reason to celebrate.
